The Qlogic SANbox 8000 Plattform (formerly Troika Accelera Network Storage Services (NSS) Platform) is a high performance network-based product for hosting a variety of storage management and data protection applications. Based on Qlogic's exclusive ReadyPath™ Technology, SANbox 8000 products provide hardware-based acceleration of key application operations (including StoreAge's multiMirror, multiView and multiCopy) by combining a non-blocking switching architecture and high-speed processing capabilities. The SANbox 8000 offers simple and hassle-free deployment of storage applications providing a uniquely transparent interface between hosts and storage device, regardless of SAN vendor. A SANbox 8000 appears as a storage array to attached hosts, and conversely appears as a host to storage, avoiding interoperability issues common with fabric switches. Accelera can be added to any new or existing Fibre Channel SAN by connecting one or more SANbox ports into the fabric. 

Because storage applications are integrated and pre-loaded on the SANbox platform, storage applications are immediately available for use. The storage applications on the SANbox platform automatically load when the unit is installed, avoiding the considerable time and effort often needed when installing and configuring new software applications.

Optimized Performance Through Hardware Acceleration
SANbox 8000 provides hardware acceleration of key software functions within next-generation storage applications. With hardware acceleration the most commonly used software functions are moved out of the relatively slow processor path and placed into a wire-speed hardware ASIC, which is capable of processing the software functions thousands of times faster than software running in a CPU. In addition, by moving key functionality into hardware, the systems processors are able to focus on management tasks without being consumed by demanding data movement operations.

SAN Independence Enables Customer Flexibility
The SANbox 8000 Platform is truly SAN-Independent and can be added to any Fibre Channel-based storage area network regardless of switch vendor. The product is capable of connecting to multiple Fibre Channel fabrics simultaneously while providing access and routing to select SAN volumes through multiple fabrics. It ensures the isolation of each fabric, yet still allows for a level of resource sharing and centralized management.
