Larger Workspace

Enterprise Challenges

  • Demanding business applications with capacity requirements that exceed the size of individual file systems.
  • Manual storage provisioning that is inefficient, time consuming and disruptive.
  • Performance issues associated with the entire workload of a critical business application accessing a single filer.
  • Low aggregate utilization with stranded capacity that is difficult to leverage.

Acopia Solution

The Acopia ARX allows customers to create a multi-terabyte application workspace across multiple physical file systems for greater overall capacity and application throughput with existing file server infrastructure. Storage managers no longer have to disrupt service and reconfigure applications or clients every time they encounter a capacity limitation. A workspace can be created with much larger capacity to meet the application requirements, and if additional capacity is needed it can be non-disruptively added to the storage pool.

Acopia’s ARX can also dramatically increase the customer’s business process throughput by distributing application work load across multiple filers. By load balancing the application I/O across multiple heads, the ARX can eliminate the single filer performance bottleneck and significantly improve application performance.

In addition, the ARX is able to dynamically balance the capacity utilization across multiple volumes in a workspace. This allows storage administrators to leverage capacity across an aggregate of physical volumes, and avoid having to balance capacity through manual migration.

Acopia Benefits

  • Dramatically increased throughput of critical business processes, which in many cases translates into real business value like increased revenues, better customer service or faster time to market.
  • Elimination of time-consuming storage provisioning, resulting in a significant reduction in operational overhead.
  • Improved utilization rates across all file storage resources, which can help reduce the expense of new storage capacity.
