Enterprise-Wide File ServicesEnterprise Challenges
- Simplifying client access to global file data distributed across the enterprise.
- Consolidating and centralizing the proliferation of distributed file storage that is difficult and costly to manage.
- Providing data center-like data protection and performance for distributed users and applications.
The Acopia Solution
The Adaptive Resource Switch (ARX) family from Acopia enables an enterprise-wide synthesis of file storage services known as Enterprise-Wide File Services (EWFS). These services begin with a simplified view of distributed file data via Acopia's Global Namespace and the intelligent placement of data to optimally distributed file access points.
Enterprise data centers and branch offices are interconnected via Acopia's Resilient Overlay Network, which provides site monitoring and shortest-path selection between sites. Clients and applications connect to the nearest Acopia switch for seamless access to file data that may reside anywhere within the enterprise. File replication can be used to distribute read-only copies of file data closer to the user utilizing local storage. Replication services can be used as an effective tool to centralize remote data center backups by distributing remote replicas back to a primary data center where backups are performed.

Benefits of the Acopia Solution - Fully leverages the resources of the distributed enterprise with the intelligent placement of file data to maximize availability and performance.
- Provides simplified and cost effective data protection of remote data center/branch offices with centralized backup procedures.
- Drives significant cost savings through the consolidation of distributed file storage.
- Enables single or consolidated file access mount points for efficient and seamless access to distributed file data stored anywhere within the enterprise.
- Allows centralized management of the presentation, distribution, and placement of file data.
